Colombia's official currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). Stores, bars and restaurants accept credit cards. However, you will need to exchange money for cab rides, street vendors, souvenirs, etc. The exchange rate is typically around $1 USD = ~3800 pesos. So take the pesos and divide by 3800 to get your dollars.

You can exchange money at the airport when you arrive at Cartagena. After claiming your checked luggage you will be processed through one more security check point. After the security check point, you will find a currency exchange window right before exiting the airport .If you plan to take a taxi to the hotel we advise you exchange some money prior to leaving the Cartagena airport.
